The seediest thing going on seems to be a man selling death-sticks. In fact, it has fancy screens that showcase sporting events like pod racing, and it offers sabacc card games. Unlike Mos Eisley, Courscant is the center of the Republic, and, as such, the club is a sleek place, filled with neon lights and with a far less ragtag crowd. ![]() While chasing the assassin who tried to kill Padme, Anakin and Obi-Wan end up in a Coruscant bar called the Outlander Club. ![]() It’s an interesting and exciting sequence, but had different goals. The scene in Return of the Jedi simply doesn’t have the same impact or the same purpose as the original. In the first movie, everything felt fresh and original, but by the third, Tatooine was already established. However, Jabba’s palace is just too visually similar to the Mos Eisley cantina. In terms of character arc, Leia risks herself to save Han and Luke reveals his growth since Empire Strikes Back. Like Obi-Wan cutting a man’s arm, viewers also have Luke showing his Force skills by using Jedi mind tricks on the guards and fighting the rancor. He’s visually unique and his appearance is not only memorable, but perfectly showcases his greedy and slimy personality. Jabba the Hutt is one of the best alien creatures in the original trilogy, up there with Yoda. It's also where Han Solo is being held captive at the start of the movie, and so a good chunk of the beginning takes place there. Like the Mos Eisley cantina, it’s a dark, gloomy place with plenty of shady characters and alien music. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi begins at Jabba’s palace.
